ECU SCREENS was founded in the Fall of 2014 by faculty members and students representing the Departments of English and Languages, the School of Fine Arts, and the Linscheid Library. Its mission is to bring memorable cinematic experiences to ECU, Ada, and the surrounding communities. ECU SCREENS has been inspired by enthusiastic responses to recent cinematic events on campus such as ECU’s French Film Festival (2010-2014) and a screening of the documentary The Reconstruction of Asa Carter (2012), which was followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers.
ECU SCREENS’s first fall season will include screenings of recorded-live performances by the Royal National Theatre of London, a screening of Granito, which will be followed by a Q&A session with one of that documentary’s filmmakers, and a screening of Promised Land, which will be followed by a Q&A discussion with a panel of experts on the environmental impact of hydraulic fracturing.
