This is an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's classic comedy, "The Government Inspector" (also known by the title "The Inspector General") in a 1967 adaptation by Peter Raby written for the Stratford National Theatre of Canada and later performed by the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. The play presents a group of corrupt bureaucrats in a small provincial town who learn that they are to be visited by an undercover government inspector. They mistakenly believe that a young stranger who recently arrived at the hotel is the inspector. Comedy ensues!
