You could refer to the Annie Moses Band as bluegrass, jazz, classical, gospel or country and still be correct.
The band, which has logged 1,200-plus hours on PBS, played at Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry, will take the Ataloa Stage at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 as part of the 2014-2015 Fine Arts Season.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office the night of the show. ECU students are free. Non-ECU students may purchase tickets for $10.
The Annie Moses Band’s concert, entitled “Rhapsody in Bluegrass: The Art of American Music,” is a panoramic exploration of America and her music. Featuring favorites from Aaron Copland, George Gershwin and other American originals, “Rhapsody in Bluegrass” fuses Appalachian bluegrass, Irish fiddle, beloved classical themes and roots music to create a beautiful and transporting concert experience.
The band’s innovative sound has delighted and entertained audiences around the world for over a decade. Not only is the Annie Moses Band a talented ensemble of songwriters, singers and musicians, combining technical skill with exhilarating showmanship, they are also family.
Named for their great-grandmother, the Annie Moses Band is comprised of siblings, led by their father, award winning composer/arranger Bill Wolaver. Their PBS special “Christmas with the Annie Moses Band” garnered over 1,200 hours of airtime, setting the record for a debut artist.
