A traveling exhibition of works by living Oklahoma artists will be open to the public through Jan. 31 in East Central University’s Pogue Art Gallery.
The exhibition, “24 Works on Paper,” is a collaboration between Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC). It is traveling the state for a full year, bringing original, contemporary Oklahoma artwork to viewers in communities large and small.
ECU alumni Scott Johnson of Holdenville and Paul Walsh of Roff are two of the 24 artists from eight Oklahoma cities selected for the exhibit by Dr. Louise Siddons, the 2011 guest juror and an assistant professor of American, modern and contemporary art at Oklahoma State University. She previously was a visiting professor and adjunct curator at Michigan State University and an assistant curator of works on paper at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.
All artworks in the exhibition are created on paper and include media such as printmaking, drawing, painting and photography.
The gallery is open weekdays in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
Other artists represented in the exhibition are MJ Alexander, Marilyn Artus, Sarah Atlee, Kjelshus Collins, Trent Lawson, Jean Longo, Rebecca Lowber-Collins, Chad Mount, Romy Owens, Laurel Reynolds and Tom Wester, all of Oklahoma City; Narciso Argüelles, Sarah Day-Short and Michelle Junkin of Edmond; Bryan Cook, Mustang; Yiren Gallagher, Cynthia Marcoux and May Yang, Tulsa; Monika Linehan and Katherine Liontas-Warren, Lawton; and Tiffany McKnight and Betty Wood, Norman.
