The first astronomy viewing of East Central University's academic year will be from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday [SEPT. 30]. Participants should be at the northwest corner of the Physical and Environmental Sciences Building in time to leave at 8 p.m. to drive to the country to view constellations.

The ECU Astronomy Club also has scheduled viewings at the ECU observatory on Oct. 7 [THURSDAY] of Jupiter, the Andromeda Galaxy and Uranus; on Oct. 12, the first quarter moon and Jupiter; and Nov. 2, the Andromeda Galaxy and Jupiter.

Those viewings will be from 8:30 to 9 p.m. at the ECU Observatory adjacent to ECU's Physical Plant parking lot, northeast of the football stadium. A walk 100 feet up a hill is necessary to get to the telescopes. All viewings are open to the public but will be cancelled if it is raining or cloudy.
