ADA – East Central University is helping high school seniors take the next steps in furthering their education by participating in Oklahoma College Application Week through September 24.

“College App Week” is affiliated with the National College Application Campaign, through which organizations host application assistance events in all 50 states. Seniors who take part will enjoy support from knowledgeable volunteers, including on the ECU campus.

“This campaign helps to bridge the gap that many of our high school students face due to financial restraints,” said Ashlee Heck, director of recruitment at ECU. “It gives them a more easily accessible opportunity to take the next steps into higher learning.”

The primary goal of College App Week is to encourage more high school seniors, especially those who have not considered attending college, to apply and establish relationships with colleges and universities that will hopefully lead to their enrollment. Over the past decade, more than 37,000 high school seniors have participated in Oklahoma’s College App Week.

For its part, ECU will partner with local high schools to host events on their campuses to help students submit college applications. During these events, ECU recruiters will discuss all things college-related, from applying to housing to general campus life. These events not only promote the submission of applications, but also a better understanding of college in general.

ECU hosted an area-wide college fair on September 17 that showcased 36 universities and colleges. During the fair, ECU was able to help facilitate an environment that exposed students to multiple opportunities to learn about colleges and hear about opportunities for their next moves after high school.
