East Central University will screen the Broadway masterpiece “Of Mice and Men” on Thursday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

This powerful production, starring James Franco (127 Hours, Milk), brings to life Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck’s enduring story of friendship and sacrifice.

ECU SCREENS is collaborating with Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association to show this “vivid, heart-wrenching” (Huffington Post) recorded-live production of “Of Mice and Men.” This production is part of NT Live, the National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. Open to the public, the screening is free for students with an ECU ID, $5 for other students, and $10 for members of the community.

In this tragic tale set during the Great Depression in California, George and Lennie are two migrant workers who have a dream of scraping together enough money to buy their own farm. Variety called this powerful portrait of the American Spirit a “flawless, beautifully acted revival.”

Tony Award® nominee Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls) joins James Franco in this “emotionally penetrating” (The Hollywood Reporter) performance. “Of Mice and Men,” which was nominated for two Tony Awards, also features Leighton Meester (Country Strong, Gossip Girl) and Tony Award winner Jim Norton (The Seafarer).

This is the eighth and final ECU SCREENS performance of the spring semester.
