WHAT: Emergency Response Exercises
WHEN: May 20-21 (setup is on May 19)
WHERE: East Central University’s Sports Complex (mainly Norris Field)
WHO: ECU, ECU Police Department, Oklahoma National Guard, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Incident Management Team, Ada Police Department, Lighthorse Police Department, Ada Fire Department, Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department, Pontotoc County Emergency Manager, Mercy Emergency Management Services
WHY: Full-scale training exercises are necessary in order to prepare for potential incidents. Building relationships and testing communication tactics are key factors in ensuring cooperation between all potential first responders.
Training exercises on May 20 and 21 will include emergency response to a number of scenarios to include an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), mass casualty incident, active shooter and response to an explosive/hazardous chemical incident. The exercises will also enable local responders to train on the Incident Command System.
