OKLAHOMA CITY – The Regional University System of Oklahoma is conducting a national search for the ninth president of East Central University located in Ada, Oklahoma. The board invites nominations and applications from qualified candidates who have a proven leadership in developing and executing a vision of academic excellence.

Founded in 1909, ECU is a regional institution enrolling nearly 4,500 students and offering degrees at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. It is one of only a few universities in the country that offers a bachelor's degree in medical physics, environmental health science and cartography and has the largest nursing program in southern Oklahoma.

“ECU has robust partnerships with industry and business leaders, like Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting and the Chickasaw Nation headquartered in Ada,” said Connie Reilly, RUSO regent and chair of the ECU presidential search committee. “We are seeking someone who understands this diverse and dynamic academic environment and connects with multiple stakeholders — from students, faculty and alumni to community and government entities and businesses.”

Candidates should demonstrate success in diverse areas such as enterprise and fiscal management, fundraising and community outreach. A full description of qualifications and an application can be found on the RUSO website.

“Our next university president will be key to guiding the university into a successful new era,” Reilly added. “We carefully chose our selection committee to reflect the unique skill set required of this job.”

ECU presidential search members include: Angela Ables, Kerr, Irvine, Rhodes and Ables; Duane Anderson, ECU; Chris Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation; Tom Cowger, ECU; Chris Feiler, Citizens of Ada Bank; Jim Hamby, Vision Bank of Oklahoma; Louden Johnson, ECU; Marc Klippenstine, ECU; Alan Marcum, Devon Energy; Monica Neal, Chickasha Nation; Susan Paddack, State Senator; Shirley Pogue, Arrow Energy; Regina Robertson, ECU; and Dawn Thurber, ECU staff.

A review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. While not a requirement for the position, the new president is expected to assume office by March 1.
