A 1980s film icon is set to perform classical jazz vocals at East Central University, April 7, as Molly Ringwald takes center stage at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre for “An Evening with Molly Ringwald” at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

The actress, best known for her roles in John Hughes ‘80s movie classics such as “The Breakfast Club,” Sixteen Candles” and “Pretty in Pink” now entertains her fans off the big screen. She will sing classical jazz songs she has loved for years, songs which have meaningful lyrics and messages to her. Ringwald has been singing since well before she was America’s 1980s acting icon or became a Golden Globe nominated actress as her father was a jazz musician.

Those seeking tickets are encouraged to purchase them online or call or visit the box office in advance to avoid a long line or limited seating the night of the performance which will begin at 7:30 p.m. The box office is open 2 p.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and one hour before show time. A cash bar will also be available beginning at 6:30.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office. For more information about the performance, contact the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center Box Office, 580-559-5751 or visit ecok.edu/finearts.

A masters class will be conducted by drummer Clayton Cameron on April 7 at 2 p.m. Cameron, nicknamed the “brush master,” has performed or recorded with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., and many more. The class with Cameron may be limited to the first 50 registrants. The clinic will be a part of ECU’s Day of Percussion and will also feature Blake Tyson and Thad Anderson.
