ADA – East Central University honored two of its cheerleaders with the 2013 James and Glenna Cranford Scholarship Award ($1,000 apiece) during ECU’s homecoming festivities on Oct. 5. Pictured left to right are: ECU President John Hargrave; cheerleader Grace Bowles, of Norman; cheerleader Shyann Hester, of Yukon; Mike Cranford, son of James and Glenna Cranford, who presented the awards; Jill Clark, ECU cheer and dance coach; and Phyllis Danley, executive director of the ECU Foundation, Inc. The award is given annually at homecoming to a member of the ECU cheerleading squad. This year, two were each presented with the honor. The award was originally established by James in memory of his wife Glenna, a former ECU cheerleader. James passed away in 2012 and the scholarship was then renamed in honor of both James and Glenna.
