The Communication and Performance Studies Program makes scholarships available to qualified students.

Tuition Waiver Recipients must:

  • be Oklahoma residents
  • be a major or minor in the department
  • be a full-time student
  • be enrolled for 12 hours or more--Fall & Spring

Other basis of Evaluation:

  • potential contribution to departmental activities
  • record of academic achievement
  • working relationships with faculty and peers at current school
  • involvement in student organizations and related outside activities (e.g., service clubs, school activities, ACA, community theatre, Rotaract, Toastmasters)

Briles Scholarship
2.5 GPA or above, based on need. Incoming students may apply.

Elizabeth Blakesley Scholarship
3.0 GPA or above. Major concentration in theatre, music theatre, minor in dance, or minor in theatre. Incoming students may apply

Finis Morrison Scholarship
3.0 GPA or above. Major concentration in theatre, music theatre, minor in dance, or minor in theatre. Incoming students may apply.

Coleman Communication Studies Scholarship
2.5 GPA or above. Awarded to an outstanding Junior or Senior majoring in Communication & Performance Studies concentration.

Higginbotham Family Scholarship
3.5 GPA or above. Junior or Senior majoring or minoring in Communication & Performance Studies.

Dorothy I. Summers Scholarship
2.5 GPA or above. Theatre, Music Theatre and Speech Education majors and minors may apply. Must be evidence of volunteer technical work on productions. Incoming students may apply.

Adolph Linscheid/ D.J. Nabors Speech Award
2.5 GPA or above. Outstanding students participating in the study and practice of speech and debate, students planning a profession in which public speaking will be used extensively, students planning to enter the teaching profession, or students who excel in forensics competitions.

Lee Blaney Scholarship
Outstanding Theatre majors may apply for this scholarship.

Fortnightly Club
Outstanding Freshman theatre or music theatre major based on Fall Semester. Awarded every third year.

Tuition Waiver
2.5 GPA or above. Oklahoma resident, major or minor in Communication & Performance Studies degree program. Fewer than 124 hours of college credit, enrolled for 12 or more hours in a semester for which awarded. Incoming students may apply.

Musical Theatre Waiver
2.5 GPA or above. Oklahoma resident, major in Musical Theatre or involved in Showtime. Fewer than 124 hours of college credit, enrolled for 12 or more hours in the semester for which awarded. Incoming students may apply.
