Richard E. Baumgartner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Dr. Richard E. Baumgartner and his 30 years of service to the Department of Human Resources (1974-2004). As funds allow, an annual scholarship is awarded to a qualified Human Resources graduate student and undergraduate student. Eligible Applicants must be graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Professional Programs in Human Services. Scholarship monies will be awarded for fall and spring semesters with half the amount to be applied to each semester. The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the fall semester to receive monies for the spring. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION

- Have completed at least 12 hours at ECU

Lowell E. Green was the Director of Rehabilitative Services for the Department of Human Services and was a strong promoter of quality services delivered by professionally competent staff. Scholarship monies will be awarded for fall and spring semesters with half the amount to be applied to each semester. Selection is not restricted to, but preference will be given to a student who is disabled. Past recipients must reapply each year to be considered for the award. The Dr. Carol J. Bridges and Dr. Jim Burke Social Work Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Bridge and Dr. Burke for over 30 years of service to East Central University and the Social Work Program. Drs. Bridges and Burke have set a standard of excellence in the social work program that represents academic integrity, dedication to the principles of the social work profession, and fosters a learning environment in which students are prepared for a changing and culturally diverse society. As funds allow, a minimum of one scholarship will be awarded annually each spring semester to an outstanding social work student who demonstrates a commitment to social justice, social change, and advocacy for vulnerable persons. The Virgil Taylor Memorial Scholarship was created to honor his 33 years of service to individuals with disabilities and was established to aid undergraduate students at ECU who are pursuing a career in rehabilitation. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION

The Quiett-Gerlach Counseling Scholarship was established by Dr. Ray Quiet and his wife, Connie Gerlach Quiett, at the request of Mrs. Quiett's mother, Mrs. Donna Gerlach to honor the late Ervin Gerlach. Mr. Gerlach was a Texas farmer and rancher with only a high school education, but he loved learning. One of his favorite sayings was "Get all the knowledge that you can and wisdom to go with it." The money is to be awarded to a graduate student pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION

The Ray Farmer Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student selected by the Criminal Justice Department. It is used to defray costs for a student in the summer COP program. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION

- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
- Must have excellent moral character, dependable, and exemplify high integrity
- Must be enrolled in the summer COP Skills Academy
The Pete Gray Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in criminal justice with a concentration in law enforcement. Final selection of recipients will be made by a selection board composed of members of the Ada Fraternal Order of Police. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION
The Natashia Wright Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship is awarded to a Criminal Justice Law Enforcement major and will be enrolling in the next Collegiate Officer Program Skills Academy. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION

Col. Tom A. Thomas Human Resources Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a qualified MSHR graduate student who has completed at least 12 hours at ECU in the MSHR program with a cumulative GPA or 3.5, with preference to applicants from the Administration options. Applicants should possess leadership qualities and have strong potential to make a positive and lasting impact on the public sector service. Students from the outreach sites are also eligible to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship will also be awarded to a Department of Professional Programs in Human Services undergraduate student who is at the junior or senior level and has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Additionally, applicants must have completed at least 12 hours at ECU in their program with a GPA of 3.5. Students from the outreach sites are also eligible to apply for this scholarship. Briles Foundation Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded based on need and a minimum 2.5 GPA for Human Resources undergraduate students with junior or senior standing. Graduate applicants must have completed at least 9 hours at ECU with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Originally established as a part of the Federal Student Loan Program, this scholarship was transferred to the ECU Foundation in 1995. The deadline is February 1 of each year. APPLICATION
Higginbotham Family Human Resources Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in any of the programs and/or concentrations in the Department of Professional Programs in Human Services and includes students attending at any outreach sites. The recipient must have completed at least 75 hours, maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA, and been accepted into his/her program. The applicant must also submit a narrative which lists his/her activities, accomplishments, and commitment to the helping profession. Dorothy Higginbotham was an ECU alumnus who understood and recognized the value of higher education and established this scholarship as part of her estate planning. TOM AND MADELINE SORRELLS SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will serve students who have met the department requirements to enroll in a required departmental internship, student teaching, or clinical in the last semester at the end of their undergraduate degree program. The internship, student teaching, or clinical requirement must be a full-time semester enrollment. An individual may receive this award for one semester only. The award is intended to help students who cannot otherwise work during that semester. The maximum award for any single student may not exceed $1,000, but a lesser amount may be awarded based on need. This scholarship was established in the last will and testament of Pansy Cradduck Bates. Eligible students are those completing undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice, Human Services Counseling (Aging Services, Human Services Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Services to the Deaf), and Social Work. The Chair of the Department of Professional Programs in Human Services and the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences shall be the recommending committee. APPLICATION

Jack Conn established this scholarship in memory of his wife Gillette. This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior who has maintained a 3.0 GPA or above. The recipient will have a declared major in Human Resources. APPLICATION
JON ARRASMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Criminal Justice or related field. Preference will be given to a current member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. This scholarship was established by Gil and Jeanine Morgan, longtime supporters of ECU, and friends and family members of Jon Arrasmith. APPLICATION
