Freshmen Business Scholar Program
About the Program:
The Freshmen Business Scholar Leader Program was established through a generous donation from the owners of Kellogg and Sovereign Consulting, LLC. This program is a unique opportunity for incoming freshmen business majors that includes several components to help promote academic excellence, student engagement, and cultural enrichment.
Why You Should Become a Freshmen Business Scholar:
- Special Scholars Courses
The Freshmen Business Scholar Program allows students to enroll in special business courses that are only available to the Freshmen Scholars. - Student Engagement
The Business Leaders Association (BLA) hosts business speakers, on-campus events, competitions, and much more, which will help students become more active and involved on campus and in the School of Business. Freshmen Business Scholars will also have the opportunity to go on special class trips. - Priority Enrollment
Students in the Freshmen Business Scholar Program get to enroll before general enrollment opens each semester. This will help you get the courses you want at the times you want every semester. - Means to an End
You will be exposed to special programs and future scholarships. You can also start building your resume with meaningful awards, professional contacts, and accomplishments that will set you apart from other college students.
Requirements:
Incoming freshmen must have an ACT score of 25 or higher or a 3.75 GPA in order to be considered for the Freshmen Business Scholar Program.
Apply Now:
Completed forms (including transcript and ACT score sheet) must be received by February 1 to be considered for the first application review. The Freshmen Business Scholar Program only accepts 25 students in this program. Applications received after the February 1 deadline will be considered for any remaining positions in the program.

This program is aimed towards junior and senior business majors who demonstrate academic excellence and are looking for a way to better themselves through student engagement and cultural enrichment.
Why You Should Become a Business Scholar Leader:
- Special Scholars Courses
Students will be allowed to enroll in special business courses that are only available to Business Scholar Leader students. - Student Engagement
Students in the Business Scholar Leader Program will be encouraged to join our student organization, Business Leaders Association (BLA). This organization hosts business speakers, on-campus events, competitions, and much more. - Priority Enrollment
The Business Scholar Leader Program allows students to enroll each semester before general enrollment opens. You will get the courses you want at the times you want every semester. - Scholarship and Trips
A $2,000 annual scholarship is provided to students in the Business Scholar Leader Program. The program also includes an all-expense-paid trip every spring semester valued at $2,500. In previous semesters, trips have been taken to New York City and Chicago. Altogether, members will receive almost $10,000 in scholarships.
Requirements:
Students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, be able to volunteer for special projects, be on the ECU campus for the next two years, and participate in the Dean’s Leadership Council.
